International summer students join in Canada Day celebrations
Each summer OCENET welcomes students from South America, Asia and Europe who attend international summer camps through the Summer Explorer Program. During the mornings students attend English classes (using the Common European Framework), and then in the afternoons put their newly acquired English language skills into practice through a wide variety of cultural and physical activities from cycling along the Rideau Canal, to creating dreamcatchers at the Aboriginal Experience at Victoria Island, to learning about Canadian culture at the many national museums and art galleries in the Ottawa area. The international summer students live with a local Canadian host family so both the visiting students and Ottawa families benefit from a unique and enriching cross-cultural experience.
